038 – Relentless: Carole Sauter
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
Carole Sauter joins us today on Music Life Radio to talk about her personal history, and relationship with music. She is a flute player in the Gateway Concert Band, a community-based concert group, and she is the mother of MLR’s host and executive producer, Dan Sauter. Having survived two husbands, a career in teaching, Carole now spends most of her time creating art – from art books, to calligraphy projects, music, and even poetry. She never lets a setback slow her down, and is truly relentless in life.
Credits: “MLR Intro” by “Rob McCann, “Concert Prelude” performed by “Gateway Concert Band“, “Wabash Cannonball” performed by “Doc Watson“, “Senbazuru” by “Kevin MacLeod“, “O Holy Night” performed by “Gateway Concert Band“, “London Bridge” performed by “Gateway Concert Band”
Poem by Carole Sauter:

I love the sheer beauty of the flute discipline
Notes thick, long, and colored round
Techniques in E flat Major or G
Clean notes with a constant beat
Mastered duets in altered meters
Playing and listening at the same time
Tone, technique, touch
Become the discipline of freedom
Heard beauty suspended on air waves
Satisfied or not I play on
