Steve Moriarty is a drummer who has played in many bands, but most notably in the Seattle punk band The Gits. In part two of this interview we cover the details surrounding the tragic rape and murder of the Gits lead singer, Mia Zapata in 1993, how the surviving Gits went on to form a new band, and eventually play and tour with Joan Jett as a way to raise funds for the murder investigation. We cover the murder trial and conviction, the making of the Gits documentary film, and listen to tracks from Steve’s many subsequent bands since the Gits including the Dancing French Liberals of 48, Evil Stig which is the name of the Joan Jett project, St. Bushmills’ Choir, the Pinkos, and Blonde Mexicans.
